LEADERSHIP EXCELLENCE

As the 86th President of the Junior League of Washington (JLW) in its 112th year, Charlyn Stanberry oversees an organization of over 2,300 members advancing women's leadership for meaningful community impact through volunteer action, collaboration, and training.  For the 2024-2025 league year, Charlyn has encouraged JLW to S.H.I.N.E., Serve the Community, Honor our Mission, Expand our Impact, Nurture the Next Generation, and Empower our Members. She has contributed to JLW in roles such as President-Elect, Strategic Sustainability Council Director, Ways and Means Council Director, Adult Community Placements Council Director and Leadership Institute Chair to name a few. Additionally, she represented JLW in the 2024 Leadership Greater Washington cohort and was named to the Inaugural Top 40 Under 40 Class for the Association of Junior Leagues International, Inc.

As Vice President of Regions & Affiliates for the National Bar Association (NBA), Charlyn Stanberry plays a vital role in supporting the nation's oldest and largest network of Black American attorneys and judges. She serves on the NBA's Board of Governors, demonstrating her commitment to advancing the legal profession and advocating for justice. Charlyn's involvement underscores her dedication to empowering the Black legal community and fostering impactful connections across the organization's regions and affiliates. Additionally, she has served multiple terms as the Legislation Committee Chair drafting the NBA’s legislative agenda and serving as liaison to Capitol Hill.

As a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Charlyn Stanberry embodies the organization's commitment to sisterhood, scholarship, and service. Her involvement reflects her dedication to uplifting communities and empowering women, aligned with AKA’s mission to cultivate and encourage high scholastic and ethical standards. Through her active participation, Charlyn contributes to the sorority's legacy of making a positive impact on society and has served as a Past Leadership Fellows Graduate.
